Community Internship- Down East Partnership for Children Summer 2017
I had the amazing opportunity to work alongside my fellow Cohort VI member Jasmine Traun to participate in some research for Down East Partnership for Children. Our focus for the summer was to visit with community sites to see which ones were serving the community as a summer learning site and which ones were serving the community as summer feeding sites. Down East Partnership wanted to see how many community sites would be interested in combining the idea of being a summer learning site that also fed the children they served. Down East Partnership wanted to know how they could help these community sites in making this vision happen for them. It was a unique experience to be able to network with community members, members we may serve one day as school leaders. We were even able to deliver free books to these sites at the end of our internship, building a stronger relationships with those that we served. It was a wonderful experience that I learned a lot from.
