Element 5A: School Resources and Budget: The principal establishes budget processes and systems which are focused on, and result in, improved student achievement. I have had the opportunity to work with our school leadership team to discuss ways we would spend our Title I funds. We were able to decide ways to spend funds to add extra staff positions to benefit our students. I also have had the opportunity to be in charge of the documentation for our Title I funds, working closely with the school systems Title I coordinator and my principal to teach me the process of documenting information into the correct categories. Element 5B: Conflict Management and Resolution: The principal effectively and efficiently manages the complexity of human interactions so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement. I am in charge of discipline at my school. I created a discipline tracker for the admin team and school counselor to keep track of student behavior. This allows us to keep track of the issues we have had with students so that we are able to process discipline issues in a timely manner. Element 5C: Systematic Communication: The principal designs and utilizes various forms of formal and informal communication so that the focus of the school can be on improved student achievement. I use various forms of communication to inform the staff and school community about various functions around the school. I created a Twitter account for the school and also help run the Facebook page. I have sent many emails, send class dojo messages, and have sent robo call messages to the school throughout the year. This allows teachers to focus on instructional time so that the students grow in their learning everyday. Element 5D: School Expectations for Students and Staff: The principal develops and enforces expectations, structures, rules and procedures for students and staff. I am constantly in contact with staff about expectations, structures, rules and procedures for students and staff. I sometimes present in staff meetings to explain what expectations are on various topics. Pictured here was a section I discussed with teachers on setting up parent/teacher conferences. Our expectations were that teachers needed to contact parents to schedule meetings immediately and also be flexible to work around parent schedules so that these meetings could take place with all parents. I gave guidance on what they could cover in these meetings and also offered support to them that if they felt they needed an administrator present to just ask. |
